This was pretty much inspired by both the album Hand. Cannot. Erase.
by Steven Wilson and its artwork (which you can see and listen to here
). I was quite intrigued by the overall topic of the album:Hand. Cannot. Erase. takes the story of a woman who seems to be obsessed over the idea of how people can simply vanish or disappear, especially as to how they do it in the middle of a city and how it seems to be the place in which it is easiest to do so. And in the end, when nothing else is left to do, she does so herself. The story itself was inspired by that of Joyce Carol Vincent.
And to quote Steven Wilson: "For me it became the symbol of what it means to be living in the city in the 21st century in the age of the internet and all this other stuff that supposedly brings us closer together as human beings. But, actually, the way I see it is it actually makes us disconnect more and more from each other.
Sorry for the ramble! I just love this album a lot. Tumblr post!
